On 10th June, at the Head office of Central Retail in Vietnam, the company was excited to practice recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans with the Sparklomats – the reverse vending machine following the successful launch externally at GO! An Lac last week.

At the event, Group CEO, Mr. Olivier Langlet shared that Central Retail has been at the forefront of pioneering Green & Sustainable Retailing. Our commitment to environmental protection is reflected in various initiatives, such as utilizing eco-friendly materials, encouraging the reuse of shopping bags, preserving greenness, and employing renewable energy sources using solar rooftop systems at our GO! malls. And with promoting recycling behavior among our customers and employees, we are taking a crucial step forward in our mission to inspire, encourage, and practice sustainable living.

From December 2023 to April 2024, we witnessed remarkable success with the installation of 12 Sparklomats at our GO! malls, collecting nearly 65,000 plastic bottles and close to 14,000 aluminum cans with the collection rate for the most recent month increasing by 50%. The response was overwhelming, and we plan to install 86 machines nationwide by the end of 2024.

As we celebrate this milestone, Mr. Olivier encouraged CRV team members to actively participate in this initiative. By recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans using these machines, teams will be directly contributing to reducing waste and protecting our environment.

The event was welcomed by our team members, with many bringing plastic bottles from home to recycle. They downloaded the app, recycled, received rewards from the app for their recycling efforts, and won prizes from the lucky wheel. Together, we can drive meaningful change and contribute to a sustainable future for our company, our community, and our planet.
