On September 28th, the Management team and nearly 150 team members from Central Retail in Vietnam and Procter & Gamble Vietnam jointly participated in the volunteer tree-planting day at the Ta Kou Nature Reserve (Binh Thuan province).
This activity is of the “Forests For Good – Vì Bạn Ươm Mầm Một Việt Nam Xanh”, a collaborative endeavor launched in 2023 by Central Retail Vietnam, P&G Vietnam, and the Gaia Nature Conservation Center, aimed at increasing forest coverage while raising community awareness about the importance of environmental protection.
Plant Over 1,000 Trees to Restore Ta Kou Nature Reserve
The Ta Kou Nature Reserve is one of 221 globally significant ecological regions in urgent need of conservation. However, the area still has over 100 hectares of degraded coastal forests and sand dunes that require restoration. With the goal of greening barren lands and mitigating desertification, Central Retail Vietnam and P&G Vietnam planted over 1,000 seedlings of drought-resistant native trees.
Speaking at the event, Olivier Langlet, CEO of Central Retail Vietnam, shared: “Through introducing and participating in this initiative, we once again reaffirm our strong support and commitment to the government’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. In the face of increasingly severe climate change, achieving this goal is critical and holds immense significance for the future of our planet”.
To date, over 14,000 forest trees have been in areas such as Xuan Lien Forest (Xuan Lien Nature Reserve in Thanh Hoa province), Ca Mau Forest (Ca Mau National Park), Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve, and most recently, the Tà Kóu Nature Reserve, helping to restore barren land and prevent desertification.
This is one of the efforts demonstrating Central Retail Vietnam’s social responsibility on its journey to become a pioneering “Green and Sustainable Retailer” in Vietnam.
