VIETNAMESE WEEK IN THAILAND 2026 OFFICIALLY OPENS IN BANGKOK

On 17 September 2026, Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2026 officially opened at centralwOrld in Bangkok, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand. Held under the theme “Discover the Charm of Vietnam”, the event showcases Vietnamese products, cuisine, culture and destinations, while creating further opportunities for business connections and market expansion in Thailand.

The Opening Ceremony welcomed the Ambassador of Vietnam to Thailand, representatives of Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, leaders from participating Vietnamese provinces and cities, as well as Thai residents and visitors.

Speaking at the event, Ms Vo Hong Anh, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Foreign Market Development and Multilateral Trade, Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: “In recent years, the Vietnamese Government has facilitated businesses in expanding direct exports to distribution networks in international markets, including Thailand. Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2026 is an important initiative under this effort and has been held annually since 2016.”

Ms Wallaya Chirathivat, President of Central Group, said: “This year marks the eighth edition of Vietnamese Week in Thailand. The event carries particular significance as Thailand and Vietnam celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations – five decades of friendship and increasingly close ties between the governments, business communities and people of our two countries.”

Mr Olivier Langlet, Group CEO of Central Retail Vietnam, emphasised: “Vietnamese Week in Thailand is a flagship initiative under the “Better for Vietnam” strategy. Held annually since 2016, the programme is a collaboration between Central Group, Central Retail, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and local partners. Over the years, the event has attracted more than 1,000 Vietnamese businesses to showcase their products, welcomed over one million visitors and successfully organised more than 50 business matching sessions.”

A key milestone at this year’s event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between NAPAS, VietinBank and Central Retail to advance cross-border payment connectivity through VietQRGlobal, supporting the growth of cashless payments, trade and tourism between Vietnam and Thailand.

Running until 20 September at centralwOrld, Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2026 brings together more than 60 Vietnamese businesses from Lao Cai, Hanoi, Danang, Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang, presenting Vietnamese products, regional specialities and cuisine alongside a range of cultural and experiential activities for Thai consumers.
